Dr. Frisch is publishing a 6-course introductory CD training series for new students who want to learn her approach. She is an expert in the theoretical and clinical approach of Wilhelm Reich and his somatic techniques. The Masterson Group’s delineation of the Disorders of the Self will also be included in order to represent later research in developmental attachment theory and round out Reich’s diagnostic typology.
Dr. Frisch, through the Orgonomic Institute of Northern California (OINC), will be focusing her classroom teaching efforts from this point forward on advanced trainings and supervision/study groups. As a result, she will be offering these introductory level audio courses to serve as the first step in preparing new students to enter the advance courses and train with her in a classroom setting (an Intermediate CD Training Series is also being prepared).
These CD training courses are rich with information, include non-confidential discussion and experiential coaching so that you can hear the approach in action, and allow students to self-pace and deepen their learning to the point of mastery. Once character analysis is understood in depth, the student is ready to learn about biophysical segmental armoring, and Reich’s somatic clinical approach.
Prerequisites: Students wishing to study with Dr. Frisch must be licensed health professionals or students on track for licensure. In addition, students new to OINC must participate in a pre-screening interview with Dr. Frisch before enrolling in any live training or purchasing an OINC CD course.
Study Groups: New students working with this introductory CD Training Series may attend an optional, highly recommended small study group to support their learning, discuss relevant topics and get clarification from Dr. Frisch. She will use small group participation to actively guide new students through the audio courses. Attendance in study groups is required of those students who wish to continue on with intermediate and advanced trainings. The study groups will form a collegial network that offers support and inclusiveness with the other more advanced students in the OINC community.
There will be 8 study group sessions offered (three-hours each), 6 of which will focus on specific CD content, and the remaining two will focus on overall integration of the material. The meetings will occur in Mill Valley or Larkspur California.
Study Group Cost: The cost of each study session will be $150 when enrolled in separately, with limited scholarships available for students in financial need. Package discounts are also available.
Study Group Session package discounts will be offered as follows:

The Introductory CD Training Series will include these courses:
1. An Orientation on Breaking through Resistance. Reich is the master of working with resistance and it is a core concept to his clinical approach. Therapists who do not know how to recognize resistance at its most subtle level and approach it skillfully will see patients sabotage their progress, drop out prematurely, and continue their unrewarding pattern of resistance to life and others. This CD is an edited recording of a 2-hour orientation training. Price: $60 (package discounts available – see below)
2. Fundamentals of Wilhelm Reich & Masterson’s Setting the Frame. In this CD, an edited recording of a half-day introductory training, Dr Frisch discusses Reich’s critical concept of contact, the 3 layers of defense, and other basics of Orgonomy. Dr Frisch will cover the basic nuts and bolts of clinical practice, creating and holding the therapeutic frame, and give details on how to conduct 1st and 2nd session patient interviews. Students will learn how to set up the therapeutic relationship so it can succeed. Role play with coaching demonstrating the therapeutic work in action is included. Price: $120 (package discounts available – see below)
3. Introduction to Diagnosis: Orgonomy and Character Analysis – Working with Presenting Style, an Inroad into Defense. This CD, an edited recording of a half-day introductory training, delineates Reich’s theory and stages of character development, and discusses how trauma leads to blocks creating repressed or unsatisfied zones. Dr Frisch discusses the development of muscular and character armoring and other orgonomic concepts. She outlines Reich’s diagnostic typology and discusses most of his categories. There is discussion between the lectures and an experiential portion which includes Dr Frisch coaching a dyadic role-play. Price: $120 (package discounts available – see below)
4. Introduction to Diagnosis: Disorders of the Self. This CD, an edited recording of a half-day introductory training, gives you the basics of developmental self/object relations from James Masterson’s perspective. Reich’s diagnostic focus fits his times with an emphasis on the oedipal phase of development and accompanying, related neurotic impairments. Research in attachment issues and related preoedipal dysfunction adds greatly to the typology of character diagnosis. This provides students a breadth of knowledge in character structure/defenses, which allows their clinical work to be truly discriminating. An introduction to theory and a discussion of Narcissistic Character disorder is also included. Price: $120 (package discounts available – see below)
5. Reich’s Diagnostic Categories Part 2: Schizophrenia and the Anal Character. This CD, an edited recording of a half-day introductory training, completes Reich’s diagnostic typology so students are armed with all the character structures they will need to accurately assess patients. This CD also includes a discussion of schizophrenia from Dr. Mahler’s object relations point of view, to better understand the etiology and inherent nature of this patient. Price: $120 (package discounts available – see below)
6. The Difficult Patient: Managing Action Out. This CD, an edited recording of an introductory full-day training, discusses Reich’s foundational concepts of resistance, transference neurosis and latent negative transference. Dr. Frisch delineates the stratification of the layers of defense and the study group will provide a handy laminated chart to see this clearly. The Disorder of the Self diagnoses of Borderline and Schizoid will be completed. Price: $200 (package discounts available – see below)
Intro CD Training Series Discount Packages:• Intro CD Package A will be Courses 1-3 and the package price will be $250 ($50 discount)• Intro CD Package B will be Sessions 4-6 and the package price will be $365 ($75 discount)

We will be offering 3 CE hours of credit to qualifying MFT, LCSW, and BRN professionals for attendance in the Study Groups.
