Private Practice Internship Success for MFTIs and their supervisors
How to actually make money while creating a thriving private practice
There is no need to be a starving intern. You don't need to work for free or for minimum wage. As a registered MFTI, it's likely that you will face many challenges when setting up and working in a private practice internship. I help you in all aspects of establishing a successful private practice:
- Finding the right supervisor
- Setting it all up with your supervisor: supervision agreement, bank account, payroll, malpractice insurance, workers compensation, book-keeping, creating superbills, taxes, office. I will provide you with all the information you need, including all legal and ethical restrictions, guidelines and loop-holes.
- Successfully marketing yourself (creating your niche, online profiles and social media, website, flyers and other collaterals, getting referrals, creating groups, workshops, PR, networking, etc.)
- Being cutting edge: Working with technology: Conducting sessions on Google hangout, accepting credit cards, etc.
For many years, I've run my own successful business as a career coach, leadership consultant and workshop facilitator and host. Since starting my own private practice as a therapist, I have coached many interns how to make that move into private practice. I can help you too to finish your hours as fast as possible while making a living doing it. I finished my hours in only 16 months after graduation.
I work with both interns and supervisors.

Testimonials by interns
Besides being a magnanimous, insightful and resourceful therapist and coach, Monika Brocker is a role model for realizing the professional aspects of establishing a successful business as an intern in a private practice. Thankfully there are people out there that have their eyes on the future, as our clients grow and change with the world of technology, so should our understanding of the world of business while always integrating the ethics and boundaries of psychotherapy. I have always experienced immediate positive results working with Monika and gracefully assert that everyone willing to do the work will likewise share my testimony.
Maria Lisa Ahearne, MA, PhD(c), MFTi
Working with Monika was an absolute pleasure! She was beyond helpful with all of her knowledge regarding how to set up and work in a private practice internship and follow all legal, ethical, and BBS guidelines. As an MFTi, I needed a lot of guidance on how to do this, and she explained it clearly and simply while reducing my anxiety about the whole process. I'm very pleased with her service and plan to contact her again for guidance in transitioning from intern to licensed private practice therapist. Thanks Monika!
